Privacy & data
What this site stores about you, who processes it, and how to get a copy or have it deleted.

What we store
Browsing the finder is anonymous. If you sign up for an account, we store the minimum needed to remember your saved speeches:
- Your email address (held by Clerk; see below).
- Your saved speeches: a list of speech identifiers (e.g.
hamlet-3-1-speech-001) plus optional notes. The text of the speech is not duplicated; we store the reference. - Your lists: list names and the speech identifiers in each list.
- Timestamps for when each row was created or updated.
We do not store profile information beyond what Clerk holds. We do not collect tracking or marketing data, run advertising, or sell data.
Anonymous use
You can browse, filter, search, read, copy, and print speeches without an account. While logged out, your shortlist lives in your browser’s localStorage and never leaves your device. If you later sign in, that local shortlist is merged into your account in one move; thereafter your saves live on the server so they sync across devices.
Cookies
The site uses one set of cookies, set by Clerk, to keep you signed in. These are strictly necessary for the account features to work; without them you simply cannot stay signed in. We do not use analytics, advertising, or tracking cookies. (Cloudflare may set a load-balancing cookie at the network level, and the site runs through Cloudflare’s edge so they see request metadata as a network provider; see Cloudflare’s privacy notice for details.)
Who processes your data
We use two third parties to run the service. Both are bound by their own privacy and security commitments:
- Clerk
- Handles sign-up, sign-in, sessions, password resets, social logins, and your profile. Stores your email, name (if you set one), and authentication metadata. See the Clerk privacy policy.
- Cloudflare
- Hosts the site, runs the API endpoints (Cloudflare Pages and Workers), and stores your saved speeches and lists in a Cloudflare D1 database. Cloudflare can see incoming request metadata at the network edge. See the Cloudflare privacy policy.
We do not share your data with anyone else.
Where data is stored
Account and session data is stored by Clerk in their infrastructure. Saved speeches and lists are stored in a Cloudflare D1 database. The specific region depends on Cloudflare’s scheduling; we do not pin a region.
How long we keep it
We keep your saved speeches and lists as long as your account exists. If you delete your account from the Account settings page (via Clerk), our server is notified by webhook and your saved speeches and lists are deleted from our database immediately. Backups and logs at Clerk and Cloudflare follow their own retention policies.
Your rights
Whether or not you are in the UK or EU, we offer the same controls:
- Access: your saved speeches and lists are visible at Your account. Profile information is visible in the Account settings tab.
- Export: ask us by email and we will send a JSON file of your saved speeches and lists within seven days.
- Correction: edit your profile in Clerk via the Account settings tab.
- Deletion: delete your account from the Account settings tab. Your saved speeches and lists are removed from our database when that webhook fires. You can also email us to request deletion.
- Withdraw consent: stop using the account features at any time; sign out and the cookies expire.
